The designer

The designer

A woman. A story. A vision driven by movement.

I create shoes designed to accompany women in their ambitions, their travels, and their conquests of the world. And through our bags, I also want to offer pieces capable of carrying all their projects.

Zilda, founder of Himba Fashion

To create is to transform an idea into an emotion.

Zilda

Zilda is a creator, a mother of two, and a sensitive yet deeply determined woman. She spent over 22 years as a dance teacher, and dance has been a part of her life for more than thirty years. For her, dance has never been merely a passion; it has become a way of feeling, creating, sharing, and rebuilding herself.

Having arrived in France as a political refugee in 2000, Zilda has faced numerous battles. Nothing has always been easy. Amidst life’s challenges, the responsibilities of motherhood, personal hardships, and illness—including a fight against cancer—she has kept moving forward with resilience, driven by her dream of creating.

Create

For Zilda, creating has always come naturally—sketching, imagining, and transforming an idea into emotion. Just as in dance, where every movement traces a choreography with the feet, the pencil follows the same path across the paper. Creating a shoe means creating a sensation, a sense of strength, and an elegance that empowers women in their daily lives and boosts their confidence.

I didn’t create Himba Fashion simply to make shoes.

Comfort & Elegance

The question that started it all

I’ve realized one thing: many women choose between comfort and elegance. As if you necessarily had to sacrifice one to have the other.

For years, I experienced this problem myself. I have wide feet. I wear a size 41.5. And every time, it was the same story: either the shoes were beautiful but impossible to wear for more than a few hours, or they were comfortable but soulless—lacking elegance and identity.

Why should women have to suffer to feel elegant?

A search

Himba Fashion was born out of this frustration.

At first, it wasn’t a brand. It was a quest. An obsession, even. Understanding how to create shoes capable of moving in harmony with the body, movement, femininity, and real life.

I wanted shoes that could be worn from morning until late into the night—shoes that would hold up through hours of dancing yet remain elegant at a dinner, an event, or out on the street.

Shoes you can wear from morning until the end of the night.

Apprendre la chaussure

So I started to learn.

I explored Portuguese workshops, met artisans, and studied materials, structures, balance, shapes, soles, and heel heights. I wanted to understand what lies behind a truly high-quality shoe.

But Himba isn’t just about shoes.

It is a story of movement, materials, and craftsmanship.

Each creation embodies a part of my identity: African influences, traditional fabrics, textures, colors, and the energy of movement, blended with French elegance and the exquisite craftsmanship of European artisans.

Movement, materials, craftsmanship

Each creation carries a part of my identity: African influences, traditional fabrics, textures, colors, and the energy of movement.

La signature

Creations with presence, soul, and a signature style.

What I am deeply passionate about is the blend of materials, the pursuit of the perfect detail, and above all, the opportunity to work hand in hand with artisans possessing exceptional craftsmanship. Respecting their work and keeping this heritage alive is part of my greatest dream.

I don’t want to create pieces “like the others.”

I want to create pieces that tell a story—objects with presence, a soul, and a signature.

My greatest pleasure is seeing a client come back a second time. That’s when I tell myself: "This is it—she’s grasped the world of Zilda."

Today

For me, Himba Fashion represents much more than just a brand.

This is proof that it is possible to create in a different way.

That one can be strong and elegant.

Bold and refined.

Rooted in its culture while remaining open to the world.

And above all, that a woman should never have to choose between style, comfort, and her identity.

Walking better is not just a matter of shoes. It is also a way of moving through life with confidence, dignity, and emotion.
