Our fabrics & textile materials

At HIMBA Fashion, materials tell a story.

We combine our high-end European leathers with fabrics sourced from around the world, selected for their beauty, cultural identity, and craftsmanship heritage.

Our collections may feature Malian Bogolan, African-produced Wax fabrics, Kente cloth, French jacquards, Japanese textiles, as well as surplus fabrics from haute couture houses.

01

The Bogolan of Mali

Bogolan is an iconic fabric from Mali, made from cotton, often handwoven and then dyed using natural pigments.

At HIMBA Fashion, part of our Bogolan textiles comes from Nodogo, a social enterprise workshop that helps young people learn the art of weaving, threadwork, and textile craftsmanship.

This fabric carries memory, human craftsmanship, and a strong cultural identity.

Wax fabric produced in Africa

We also use Wax, a colorful and expressive fabric widely present in contemporary African fashion.

Some of our Wax textiles are produced in Africa, particularly in Benin and Côte d’Ivoire, two countries recognized for their vibrant textile industries and their strong connection to African prints.

Wax brings color, energy, and a unique visual identity to our creations.

Le Kente

Kente is a traditional African fabric, recognizable by its geometric patterns and bold, vibrant colors.

It is historically associated with Ghana and West Africa, but we may also work with Kente-inspired textiles from partner workshops in Africa, including Kenya, depending on the collections and sourcing availability.

French Jacquard

We also work with French jacquard, woven using renowned textile craftsmanship.

This fabric allows patterns to be directly woven into the material, creating a more refined, textured, and sophisticated finish. It brings an elegant, couture-inspired dimension to certain shoes and accessories.

Japanese textiles

Some pieces feature Japanese textiles, selected for their finesse, precision, and exceptional weaving quality.

These fabrics bring a more graphic, delicate, or structured touch, depending on the design.

High-fashion textile surplus

At HIMBA Fashion, we also work with surplus textiles sourced from luxury and haute couture houses.

These dormant materials are repurposed to create exclusive pieces, often in limited editions. This approach allows us to highlight exceptional fabrics while reducing textile waste.

A partnership between textiles and European leather

Each fabric is paired with high-quality European leathers to create shoes, bags, and accessories that are both elegant, durable, and distinctive.

At HIMBA Fashion, textiles are not merely decorative — they give soul to each creation.
